Founded in 2004, Chinese company Oppo is one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers and belongs to the same BBK Electronics group as OnePlus, Realme, and Vivo. The company is known for its high-quality AMOLED displays, fast SuperVOOC fast charging, high-quality finishing, and stylish design.
Oppo has not been officially present in the Nordic region before, but now it is making a comeback with the Reno 14 series. The regional headquarters for the Nordic region is located in Finland, which shows the goal of establishing a permanent foothold in the region.
Reno 14 and Reno 14 F represent Oppo’s new strategy of bringing the design and technology of top-of-the-line models to the mid-range segment. The phones are virtually identical externally. The straight edges, square camera module, and matte finish evoke the design language of Apple’s Pro series. Special colors, such as the light accent on the green model and the especially white pearl-like “mermaidcore” pattern, set Oppo apart from other manufacturers. The phones are meticulously finished, support structures are present, and both models are water and dust resistant; however, the official IP68/IP69 rating has only been confirmed for the Reno 14.

The Reno 14 has an aluminum chassis, while the 14 F uses plastic, but the feel of the phone is both sturdy and high-quality. The phones weigh 180–187 grams and are about 7.5 millimeters thick. The quality feel is therefore excellent considering the price range, and especially in the Reno 14 it is clearly closer to the premium class than one might expect from the price range.

Both models feature 6.6-inch AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rate. The Reno 14 offers a higher resolution of 1256 × 2760 pixels and HDR10+ support, while the Reno 14 F “remains” at Full HD+ without HDR support. The color reproduction of the displays is accurate and the contrast is balanced in both models. The brightness (2000 nits) of the Reno 14 is sufficient even in bright sunlight, while the 1200 nit panel of the Reno 14 F is slightly dimmer but still clear in normal outdoor conditions. The Reno 14’s display is slightly sharper and more dynamic, but both offer a smooth and lag-free user experience.
In addition to the display, the biggest differences are found inside the devices, in the processors. The Reno 14 uses MediaTek's Dimensity 8350 system chip and fast LPDDR5X memory, while the Reno 14 F is based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip and slower LPDDR4X memory. The difference between the two chips is immediately apparent in use: the Dimensity 8350 is clearly more powerful, especially in graphics performance and multi-core tasks, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 emphasizes energy efficiency and more moderate heat output.
