The American technology company Garmin Ltd has brought the new Garmin Dash Cam X camera model to the market.
According to a Garmin announcement, the new Dash Cam X lineup includes four different dashboard camera models named Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3, X110, X210, and X310.
The Dash Cam X series features an integrated Garmin Clarity polarizing lens that reduces glare from the windshield. Additionally, with the Garmin Clarity HDR lens, the camera can capture sharp details in extremely bright or dark conditions.
Dan Bartel, Garmin's global consumer sales manager, praises the camera innovations.
– When you have a dashcam, you want to be sure that it captures all the necessary details, without worrying that parts of your video will wash away due to weather conditions or the glare from a distracting windshield. These cameras bring the clarity you need.
In addition, users can use simple voice commands to record video clips and start or stop the audio recording by holding the steering wheel with their hand.
Drivers can also benefit from advanced driver notifications, such as front-end collision and lane departure warnings, ”go” alerts that notify drivers when stopped traffic has resumed moving, and speed camera notifications that promote safer driving and increase situational awareness.
– If an incident is detected, the videos are automatically recorded. Thanks to the built-in GPS, the videos are tagged with the location, speed, date and time, which show exactly when and where the incidents occurred, the statement says.
Four different cameras
According to the announcement, the Dash Cam Mini 3 is extremely compact, the size of a car key, and does not have a display. In its remarkably compact size, it achieves 1080p HD video quality with the built-in Garmin Clarity polarizing lens.
The Dash Cam X110, on the other hand, is pocket-sized and includes additional premium features, including advanced driver awareness alerts, built-in GPS and a bright 2.4-inch LCD screen for viewing video in immediate 1080p HD resolution.
The Dash Cam X210 has the same small-sized, high-resolution display and versatile features as the X110, but it can record video at up to 1440p HD resolution.
The Dash Cam X310, on the other hand, has the same size and display as the X110 and X210, but it adds intuitive touchscreen functions and offers 4K Ultra HD video quality at the best possible resolution.
More premium features
When using the Garmin Drive mobile app on a user's smartphone, drivers can sync more Garmin dash cams and gain more awareness from multiple angles. The app automatically organizes video clips from up to four different Garmin dash cams.
With the paid Vault subscription, dashcam footage is automatically saved to a protected online vault accessible through the Garmin Drive mobile app. This makes it easier to view and share videos and provides continuous recording of important footage.
Vault subscribers can also take advantage of vehicle monitoring features, such as a parking guard and a live view. The parking guard alert can send a notification to a connected smartphone when the dashboard camera detects an event affecting the driver’s vehicle, and the real-time view allows users to get an immediate, real-time view of the dashboard camera while they are away from the parked vehicle.
The prices of the new Garmin models range from 179 to 419 euros, and they are sold in Finland by, among others, Power and Verkkokauppa.
