The standardization organization Bluetooth SIG released a new version of the Bluetooth data transmission technology on Thursday.
Bluetooth 6 is the latest version of one of the world's most widely used data transmission technologies. It includes new features and numerous feature improvements, including Bluetooth Channel Sounding, decision-based ad filtering, advertiser control, an improvement to the Isochronous Adaptation Layer, an expanded LL feature set, and a frame-rate update.
– Bluetooth Core Specification version 6.0 continues the regular update of Bluetooth technology with new features and technical improvements. Bluetooth Channel Sounding enables a standard-based, secure approach for reliable and accurate distance measurement, and benefits a wide range of products.
– Decision-based ad filtering improves performance and reliability when using Bluetooth-enhanced advertising for connectionless data transfer. Monitoring advertisers is useful for application developers and enables the provision of better interfaces and a better user experience, the statement states.
And that's not all.
The improvements made to SOAL benefit audio applications where low latency is important. And the extended feature set of LL enables finding feature support in the most advanced and versatile devices, the press release boasts.
