The Chinese company FiiO Electronics Technology Company Ltd has brought a new modern cassette player to the market.
FiiO’s new cassette player is known as the CP13. According to FiiO’s press release, the device uses analog components, including the magnetic tape head and the signal amplifier, and its circuitry uses a high-voltage 4.2 V power supply.
– It is more than 1.8 V or 3 V, which are typically found in portable cassette players.
– The power supply works in conjunction with a customized motor speed stabilization circuit, which increases the motor resistance needed to ensure stable speed. This reduces unwanted pitch changes and also enables the CP13 to handle multiple cassette types, the company commented.
The CP13 also uses a differential circuit to balance the signals from the dedicated output to ensure a more stable signal transmission, a higher signal-to-noise ratio, and less distortion.
The CP13 weighs only 310 g and measures 120 x 88.3 x 31.8 mm, which according to FiiO makes it thinner and more compact than most portable cassette players.
The device is powered by a lithium battery that can be charged via the USB-C port. The battery is lighter than the original AA batteries in previous players, and is said to last 13 hours on a single charge.
In Finland, the device is sold by Proshop, among others.
