Spotify's new Wear OS app makes streaming management easier from the watch screen
New Spotify app will be available in the near future, for smartwatches equipped with the Wear OS operating system. Its purpose is to reduce the need to glance at a smartphone. Playback can be started and stopped from the watch. You can change tracks and playlists from the watch face – there are also Discover playlists composed of Spotify suggestions. However, you cannot save offline tracks to the smartwatch.
The watch allows you to access the latest tracks and mark tracks as favorites. You can skip playback by 15 seconds in reverse, which can be useful, for example, while listening to a podcast on a run, when something distracts you for a moment. The watch app supports Spotify Connect multi-room functionality, so you can also hear the sound from the speakers. The app will arrive in the Google Play store in the coming weeks.
