The Pro-Jet Signature 12.2 turntable represents the manufacturer's cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship. Carefully designed details and massive construction promise a unique listening experience for vinyl lovers without compromise.
Pro-Ject Audio Systems has brought to the market the new flagship turntable Signature 12.2, which the manufacturer describes as representing the highest possible turntable technology. According to the manufacturer, the Signature 12.2 has been designed based on extensive research and development efforts, focusing on utilizing and improving cutting-edge turntable technologies.
The manufacturer has used only its own carefully trained employees to assemble the instrument, which according to them emphasizes the device’s exclusivity. Every metal part is hand-polished, and the CNC parts used in assembling the vinyl record player are more than a hundred in total, all manufactured in Pro-Jet’s own factory. It takes a total of two days to assemble and test the instrument, as each unit goes through a four-stage quality inspection that includes mechanical, electrical, and audio quality tests.
Signature 12.2 features several technical solutions aimed at reducing unwanted vibrations and resonances. For example, the massive, precisely balanced aluminum structure of the soundboard is coated with a special TPE damping and a vinyl coating that is said to provide an optimal platform for vinyl records. According to the manufacturer, there are no hollow spaces in the chassis of the platform, which in turn prevents the formation of resonances.

In addition, Pro-Ject has equipped the device with a three-point pivot audio arm, which is said to support sound quality thanks to its improved damping and adaptive anti-skating system. The audio arm also features adjustable height adjustment and a replaceable SME headshell, making it compatible with many other components.
One notable feature is the device’s “True Balanced” configuration, which is said to enable cleaner sound when used with the manufacturer’s own accessories, such as the Pro-Ject Phono Box RS2 and a balanced cable. However, to take advantage of the True Balanced feature, the device requires an MC cartridge, which is a separate accessory to purchase.

According to Pro-Jet, the motor of the turntable is designed to be particularly stable, and its speed adjustment is achieved via a DC-controlled AC generator, which reduces speed fluctuations. Additionally, the suspension system and adjustable feet help the device remain stable on different surfaces. According to the manufacturer, these technical solutions aim to maximize the playback quality.
The Signature 12.2 model will be available in November 2024 and its recommended retail price without the audio cartridge is 12,000 euros. The manufacturer emphasizes the European origin and craftsmanship of the device, which it has invested in when creating this premium-class turntable.
