The Mi MIX Alpha concept phone, unveiled by Xiaomi at the end of September, did not remain just a demo model; it will be sold in a limited edition in the Chinese market.
What makes the Mi MIX Alpha special is that it is covered almost completely with a uniform OLED display panel. On the back is a ceramic plate containing the camera system. The main camera has an ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor with 108 megapixels. It is paired with an 117-degree ultra-wide-angle camera with a 20-megapixel sensor and a telephoto camera with a 12-megapixel sensor. There is no need for a separate selfie camera.
Damage touches are intended to be detected using artificial intelligence and special sensors. The phone has pressure-sensing pads and vibration engines that mimic physical buttons. The phone is promised to recognize the orientation of the display, so the screen is only on on one side. The screen also functions as a speaker, and a proximity sensor has been integrated into the same package. The phone’s chassis is made of titanium alloy.
The handset features technology familiar from flagship phones, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ system chip. It is paired with 12 gigabytes of RAM and a 512 gigabyte UFS 3.0 storage. The battery has a capacity of 4,050 mAh and can be charged using 40 watts of power. Connectivity is handled via 5G technology.
The Mi MIX Alpha isn't a cheap smartphone; in its home country, the phone costs about 2,600 euros when converted directly.
