SVS, best known for its Subbarista series, has unveiled the Prime Pinnacle tower speaker. Its three 6.5-inch bass drivers are housed separately in a separate enclosure, and the enclosure is based on the bass reflex principle. The 5.25-inch midrange driver is made of fiberglass composite. The tweeter is a one-inch aluminum dome.
In designing the three-way SoundMatch crossover, an effort has been made to ensure that the seams between the elements are as smooth as possible. In terms of sound quality, the crossover is designed to blend with the other speakers in the Prime and Ultra series. The edges of the enclosure have been rounded to minimize diffraction.
According to the company’s CEO Gary Yacoubian, the speaker’s performance has been aimed at being as close as possible to the reference-class Ultra Tower speakers, but in a smaller enclosure and at a more affordable price. According to him, more emphasis has now been placed on the new feature of playback than on any other speaker in the company’s history. Therefore, it is said to meet the needs of both audiofils and home theater enthusiasts.
The color options are glossy black and a dark gray finish with a wood look. Prices and availability in Finland are not yet known, but the dark gray version costs $800 in the US and the glossy finish model $900.
