SVS has unveiled the new PB17 Ultra R|Evolution and SB17 Ultra R|Evolution subwoofers, which represent the company's flagship models. These new additions are designed to replace the popular 16-Ultra models, offering even greater power, deeper bass reproduction and user-friendly features.

Both models feature a new 17-inch large-displacement element, using a glass-fiber composite diaphragm and long-stroke SBR rubber edges. This allows for extremely low-frequency reproduction that is well below the human ear’s threshold: the SB17 Ultra is capable of producing frequencies up to 15 Hz, while the PB17 Ultra (port model) reaches up to 12 Hz.
to infinity.

The subwoofers utilize a 2800-watt amplifier based on the STA-2800D Class D amplifier technology. Thanks to the powerful MOSFET stage, both subwoofers are capable of delivering impressive dynamic power and precise bass control. The PB17 Ultrabooster has adjustable ports that allow the user to select between open or closed mode, which affects the depth and dynamics of the bass.

The New Auto EQ room correction is one of the key features and uses the smartphone microphone to adjust the room acoustic problems. This function helps eliminate the effects of room reflections and distortions in the bass sound. Additionally, the subwoofers include six parametric frequency correction settings, allowing the user to fine-tune the sound according to their own preferences.

Both models are controlled via the SVS smartphone app, which provides the user with full control over the device's functions, such as adjusting the volume, phase settings, and the low-pressure filter.

There are differences between the models: the PB17 Ultra R|Evolution is a reflex version and offers bass extension mode as well as more volume capacity. It is ideal for large home theaters that require powerful and deep bass. The SB17 Ultra R|Evolution is closed and offers a tighter and more controlled bass that is particularly suitable for music listening and smaller spaces.

These are no small devices: the PB17 Ultral weighs a whopping 74.7 kg and has dimensions of 63.5 x 55.1 x 74.4 cm (width x length x height). The SB17 Ultra is not far behind, however, being ”slightly” more compact: 56.2 kg and dimensions of 50.8 x 49.5 x 53.8 cm. The finish is glossy black or black ash veneer. Prices are 4399 euros (PB17) and 3799 euros (SB17).
