At IFA, Sony released the Xperia 1 IV, a compact but highly advanced smartphone that offers top-notch features at a price of 1,049 euros.
The Xperia 5 IV is slightly smaller in size (156 x 67 x 8.2 mm, 172 grams) but is largely the same device as the previously released 1 IV, and also includes a moderate update from last year's Xperia 5 III. The materials used are aluminum and durable Gorilla Glass Victus glass. The phone is therefore durable in use and also water and dust resistant according to the IP68 rating.
Sony has equipped the phone with a 6.1-inch OLED display panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. According to the manufacturer, the display is now 50 percent brighter than its predecessor, and it also features Real-time HDR drive support, which is said to improve contrast and image resolution.
The system core is Qualcomm’s 8-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and the graphics processor is Adreno 730. There is eight gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes of internal storage. The camera system consists of three lenses: a 16-millimeter ultra-wide-angle lens, a 24-millimeter wide-angle lens, and a 60-millimeter telephoto lens.
The battery has 5,000 milliamperetrains and supports 30-watt fast charging. A new feature is 15-watt wireless fast charging. As for the operating system, it is Android 12. The phone is promised two Android version updates and three years of security updates.
The phone is expected to be available for sale in Finland during October.
