The Pro-Ject Debut series has been in production since the 1990s, and the model has convinced vinyl enthusiasts with its simple quality. Now a new peak has been reached with the Debut Pro model.
In theory, nothing impossible is required from a vinyl player. For many, it is enough that the player is easy to set up, adjust to the playing condition, and that it plays smoothly in use. As for the sound quality, vinyl gets a lot of leeway, since it is a mechanically operated format whose strings and rotors are, in the opinion of many, even pleasant to listen to and part of the charm of the black vinyl.
On the other hand, if you look at vinyl from outside the retro boom, there are several strengths and, of course, weaknesses in both the instruments themselves and the vinyl itself. A poorly adjusted and carelessly handled instrument can essentially wear out the records and play unevenly. Therefore, it is worth dedicating some time to the operation, anatomy, and adjustment of a vinyl player, especially in the early stages of the hobby.
One good starting point for a user is to choose a phone that has only the most essential control options without any extra fiddling. Once the basics are mastered, there’s no need to fiddle with them again like you would with maintenance procedures. Assuming the phone works properly both during the day and on Sundays.
The Austrian company Pro-Ject is undoubtedly familiar to all vinyl enthusiasts. The manufacturer, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary, stands out from many others in that it has never stopped believing in vinyl. When larger brands, following the example of record companies, completely stopped manufacturing vinyl turntables, Pro-Ject focused on both affordable and high-end turntables throughout the entire vinyl era.
Now that vinyl is back in the market, Pro-Ject's position in the audio market is in a class of its own. Over the years, it has been able to develop its instruments in different series and price ranges, and in many ways, Pro-Ject turntables are among the best choices in their price categories. Proof of this is the numerous test successes, as well as, for example, the EISA awards, the latest of which went to the newest Pro model in the Debut series.
Pro-Ject Debut Pro Compared to the predecessor, the Debut Carbon EVO from 2020, it is like a new instrument equipped with a new soundboard as well. The manufacturer describes the instrument as a return to their roots.
Although the Debut Pro is a very simple vinyl record player with a strap-on and hand-operated mechanism, its construction and components utilize quite high-quality raw materials and methods. Among other things, the machined parts, a smooth and stable motor, a new hybrid audio arm, an updated aluminum record deck, and many other details make the whole thing even more reliable.
Thanks to the redesigned sound bar base, the user can adjust both the azimuth angle and the vertical angle, and the sound bar also has its own adjustment screws for the height. These adjustments are useful, for example, if the user wants to set a thicker platform for the sound bar, as well as, of course, if they want to change the sound bar of the instrument to something else.
The Debut Pron sound quality is completed by the Pick it PRO sound driver, whose reproduction is described as lively and rich. The dynamic range of the driver is also said to surprise its listeners.
