Vibrator, vibration speaker, actuator and in English, shaker or sound exciter. The capistuks has many names, but in simplified terms it is the motor of the loudspeaker element, i.e. the magnet and the sound bar without the card. In normal cases, the sound bar moves in the magnetic field of the magnet guided by the audio signal and moves the card attached to the sound bar, but in the case of the actuator speaker, the sound bar is attached to a surface or plane instead of the card, and the vibration of the sound bar is transferred to that surface or plane. Or the sound bar has a mass component, in which case the entire unit vibrates itself while the mass is moving. When the component or the surface attached to it vibrates, it also produces sound. In principle, this allows almost any surface, plane and even an object to produce sound. These vibrators are still very affordable.

For the experiment, we ordered three different sound exciter vibrators. And indeed, no matter where the vibrators were placed, the sound came out. And even better than expected!
Well, in this context, it is certainly worth noting right away that there is no real question of high-end sound, even though in principle there could be elements in this that are even more exotic than in a planar-type high-end speaker? But surprisingly well, we were able to reproduce everything from a cabinet, a decor panel, a TV-level door, to a wall. Why not, then, just as well, a ceiling panel or even a car dashboard?.

The biggest problem with sound is low frequencies, which the method has difficulty producing or has limitations and problems in producing them. Therefore, it is more of background music than more serious listening. On the other hand, the actuators can reach surprisingly low frequencies. Bass use also has its own resonators, which are based more on the physical sensation transmitted through the furniture than on the air vibrations transmitted to the ear.
Another problem is resonances. The vibrating piece of music or sound used as a “speaker” should not itself cause any additional resonances, and the sound may of course easily spread to the other side of the wall.

You would think that this would be a very rare specialty product. Well, it is kind of that, but there is still surprisingly much to choose from. For example, the American Dayton Audi has more than 40 different vibrators to choose from.
