Valve has brought new Index virtual reality glasses to pre-order. The glasses have cameras on the front, which allow them to be used in augmented reality applications. With them, you can also move around. The glasses are equipped with a 1,600 x 1,440 pixel dual display. It operates at 120, 80, 90 and experimental 144Hz refresh rates.
Audio is delivered through speakers on the ears, but you can also connect your own headphones with a 3.5mm jack if you wish. Use controllers that have 87 sensors for detecting hand and finger position, movement, and pressure. Index glasses can be used via SteamVR 1.0 and 2.0 stations. The latter allows for free movement within a 10-square-meter area.
The Valve Index glasses cost 539 euros, but there is an additional price of 299 euros for the controllers and 159 euros for the base station, which is necessary for use. Deliveries are expected to start at the end of July. The glasses, controllers, and two base stations are available in advance as a package for 1,079 euros. As for the package, deliveries are expected to take place at the end of August.
