Q Acoustics has unveiled a new Q3000i speaker series. It includes five speakers and is a continuation of the Q3000 series, which was introduced in 2014 and enjoyed critical success.
The models announced include the pedestal-shaped and now 25 percent larger 3010i and 3020i speakers, the floor-mounted 3050i, the center speaker 3090Ci, and the 3060S active subwoofer with its predecessor’s thinner 150-watt amplifier. All of them (except the subwoofer) have the same 20 mm silk-dome tweeter. It is isolated from the baffle and thus also from the vibrations of the subwoofer.
The mid-range/bass element is a paper cone. In the 3010i stand-mounted speaker and the 3090Ci center speaker it is 100 mm in diameter, in the 3020i 125 mm and in the 3050i 165 mm. The subwoofer element is 200 mm in diameter. The cabinets have now been reinforced especially carefully to minimize the effects of the bass element and to maximize the rigidity. The baffle is now stronger. The speaker terminals have also been redesigned.
The 3050i model has taken the much more expensive high-end Concept 500 speakers’ HPE frequency correction technology. It is essentially a tube filled with damping material that is tasked with absorbing the energy of standing waves.
The color options are graphite gray, English walnut, charcoal black and Arctic white. A magnetic-adhesive protective mesh is included. New accessories include Q 3000FSi pedestals and Q 3000EB wall brackets. Package options are also available.
The speakers will officially be unveiled next month at the High End Show in Munich, but they will be available in some places already this month.
