Sony has unveiled the new wireless Xperia Ear Duo earbuds, which will be available in the spring.
The headphones do not have noise cancellation functionality; the idea is that while listening to calls and music, you can hear the sounds of your surroundings. For example, when cycling or driving, you are not as likely to get into dangerous situations. The headphones interpret the environment based on time, location, and the actions you perform, and adjust the volume accordingly.
Xperia Ear Duos can also receive audio messages, for example from calendars or news. For example, calls can be answered with head movements and a blink. The materials used are aluminum and rubber. Unlike conventional earbuds, they are placed behind the ear and not under the ear. Therefore, they do not press as hard on the glasses.
The battery life is promised to be four hours on a single charge. A charging case is included, which can charge the headphones three times. The headphones also support fast charging, allowing for an hour of listening time with a seven-minute charge.
The price has not yet been announced. The colors available are black and gold.
