ConsumerIn the television test conducted by Finnish magazine, 254 televisions of different sizes were thoroughly evaluated, ranging from 32 to 65 inches. The test results showed that the price of televisions significantly affects their quality. The best 65-inch televisions cost about 3,000 euros, but there were also good alternatives available for under a thousand euros. Smaller, approximately 55-inch televisions were priced under 2,000 euros. The best quality in approximately 50-inch TVs was achieved already for just over a thousand euros.
In the test, televisions were divided into two main groups: OLED and LCD TVs. In OLED models, excellent black reproduction was emphasized, while LCD TVs offered different panel types and backlight solutions. On the other hand, the idea of the division can be difficult to grasp, as good image quality and features are important regardless of display technology. The prices of televisions for large sizes were significantly more expensive than for smaller sizes. The most popular sizes, such as 55-inch ones, were on the higher end of the cost spectrum.
It is also important to note that television prices decreased rapidly and were not often sold at the recommended price. The same television model could be sold with slightly different model designations in different countries and distribution channels, which made it difficult to compare price categories. When reviewing the test results, it was necessary to take into account the basis on which the comparison was made and the weighting used.
The televisions tested by the Consumer magazine in various sizes that were found to be good included the LG OLED65C34LA and the Samsung QE65S90C 65-inch models, while the LG OLED55C34LA in the 55–58-inch range received good marks. The Samsung UE55AU7175, LG 55UQ7500, and LG 55UR7300 were the most affordable options in terms of price-quality ratio.
