Huawei introduced the Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro with eSIM support on May 9. At the time, the company did not reveal any details about the availability of the wearable devices, but now the smartwatch has been released for pre-order in Finland.
The health features of the Huawei Watch 4 and Watch 4 Pro smartwatches include ECG function, an 8-channel optical heart rate sensor, TruSeen 5.0+ heart rate measurement system, and PPG analysis of arrhythmia. The combination of these technologies enables monitoring of several factors related to heart health and can warn users in advance about heart health risks. The watches also feature a new Respiratory Check function. A special algorithm analyzes lung health by using, for example, respiratory rate, SpO2 readings, and cough sounds, as well as information about smoking or air pollution.
In addition to measurements such as heart rate and oxygen saturation, the watch also has ECG, carotid stiffness detection, stress levels, skin temperature, and lung function. With the Health Glance and Health Trends functions, the user gets an overview of the measurements and their well-being.
There are over 100 exercise modes for fitness, including the most popular sports like running, cycling, and swimming. The Watch 4 watches are resistant to salt water, temperature changes, and shocks.
The Smartwatches in the Watch 4 series also feature an updated interface that makes navigating the information and selecting apps easier thanks to the magazine-style layout. eSIM compatibility enables independent calls and messaging. The device also includes Huawei’s first map app for smartwatches, Petal Maps Watch Edition, which enables navigation without a phone.
The battery life of the Watch 4 Pro model is 4.5 days in average use and 3 days in Standard mode. The battery life of the Watch 4 model is 21 and 14 days in average use and Standard mode, respectively. Those who need the longest battery life can switch to Ultra-long Battery Life mode, which increases the battery life of the Watch 4 Pro and Watch 4 models to 21 and 14 days, respectively. In power-saving mode, sports mode and health monitoring remain available.
Both models feature a 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED display (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide), support for free immersion up to 30 meters, a 5 ATM water resistance rating for swimming, and an IP68 rating. The Huawei Watch 4 Pro features a sapphire crystal display and an even stronger titanium structure. The Huawei Watch 4 has a stainless steel construction.
The Huawei Watch 4 has a case size of 46 millimeters and the Huawei Watch 4 Pro has a case size of 48 millimeters. On the right side you find a rotating crown button and another function button. The Huawei Watch 4 has a thickness of 10.9 millimeters and weighs 48 grams.
Huawei Watch 4 smartwatches will be available for pre-order in Finland on Thursday, June 8. The devices will be available on store shelves on June 22. The recommended retail price for the Watch 4 model is 449 euros and the recommended retail price for the Watch 4 Pro model is 549 euros.
