Copland, founded by Ole Möller some forty years ago, honors its roots by unveiling the CTA407 amplifier. It replaces the CTA408 model.
This is a completely tube-based integrated amplifier and sits at the top of the lineup. Smaller models have been hybrid amplifiers in recent years, but now the tube is also relied on at the end. The amplifier is promised to work well with a wide range of speakers. The playback is promised to be precise and dynamic.
The terminal is a push-pull type. Both channels have two matched KT88 tubes. Power is promised to output over one hundred watts. Thanks to the ultra-linear circuitry, the amplifier is promised to combine the low distortion of the triodes and the power of the tetrodes. Most of the power is extracted in Class A. The amplifier automatically recognizes the 6550, KT88, KT120, and KT150 tubes and automatically adjusts the bias. There are LEDs on the front panel that indicate the bias level of the terminal tubes. The preamp has two 12BH7 tubes and one ECC83.
The volume can be adjusted using a motorized control. The Copland RC102A remote control also allows for adjustment. It includes convenient connections for traditional stereo playback, namely five line inputs, a built-in phono input for MC and MM turntables, and as an exotic option, ribbon monitor connections!
The price of the amplifier in Finland is 6,500 euros.
