Pioneer has introduced a new stereo amplifier that is quite affordable for its features. The A-40AE is an integrated amplifier, meaning it has both front and rear amplifiers. The front panel features controls for the sound tone, channel balance and volume, as well as a selector for the playback sources. The amplifier can be set to the power amp direct mode, allowing it to be used with a separate front amplifier as well.
The A-40AE is promised 76 watts per channel at four ohms load. The efficiency ratio is promised to be high thanks to the ”Direct Energy” peak power. What is special is that the amplifier can play music from two speakers simultaneously.
The A-40AE has eight inputs, five of which are line level. In addition, there is one tape input for mm-cassettes and an optical and coaxial digital input that can play back at 24-bit and 192 kHz. The DA converter is a 32-bit and 384 kHz Wolfson. The outputs are line and headphone outputs.
Pioneer promises to sell the amplifier in August. The colors are black and silver-gray. Finnish prices and timing are not yet known, but the price range is approximately 500 euros.
