Audio-Technica has released a new high-end AT-ART1000X movecoil speaker that promises unprecedented performance in vinyl record playback.
The AT-ART1000X, manufactured in Japan, is a further development of the AT-ART1000 model presented at the High End Munich event in 2016. As a result of eight years of development, the new model offers an improved direct amplification system that enhances sound quality and bass reproduction.
The AT-ART1000X uses a direct drive system, with the tweeters located directly above the needle tip. This placement allows for better extraction of the music’s subtle details and improves the transient response. What is new in this model is the rectangular design of the tweeters, which increases their surface area in a magnetic field. This results in a more efficient output voltage and a wider range of low-frequency reproduction, improving the bass’s accuracy and power.
Each reel is made of PCOCC (Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting) wire, which is 20µm in diameter. The wires are hand-wrapped eight times to ensure the correct shape. The reels produce a 0.22mV output voltage with a 3.5 ohm resistance and are placed in a 0.5mm gap in a magnetic circuit.
The AT-ART1000X features a rigid boron core with a titanium base and aluminum housing, which ensures precise and stable needle movement and reduces resonance that could impair sound quality. The magnetic circuit is protected by a special coating against corrosion, ensuring the long-term durability of the audio cartridge and maintaining optimal performance.
The Audio-Technica AT-ART1000X is available for 5200 euros.
