The Bluesound NODE, which is also included in the AVPlus reference range, has just been updated to its third generation. The familiar features are still there, and there’s even more to choose from!
Over the years, Bluesound NODE has proven to be a great solution if the existing audio system needs to be upgraded to offer modern online and streaming capabilities. In a neat case, it features a sophisticated selection of various internet music services from online radio channels to well-known streaming services, as well as extensive wireless streaming capabilities.
The Bluesound NODE works either connected to an amplifier or directly with active speakers, for example. The recommended retail price for the latest N130 version is 599 euros, and it is available in black and white.
Bluesound has updated the NODEN relatively quietly. The elegant design familiar from previous versions is still strongly present, and the changes have mainly focused on the device’s interior. In short, the processing power and capabilities of the device have improved in the 2020s.
New features include 32-bit and 384-kHz DA conversion design at the audio-fidelity level, which now also enables playback of mqa files. All of this is backed by the manufacturer's own, advanced but easy-to-use controller app, which gives users numerous different options to customize the playback of the player, including audio tone settings.
Naturally, multi-room capabilities are also included, as the NOD can be defined as the brain of a larger audio system. The world-renowned and multiple-time award-winning BluOS system is unique in that it can support up to 64 network audio sources, all of which play 24-bit audio.
Thus, controlling NOD is most smoothly with the BluOS control app, but there are also stylish quick control buttons on the device’s cover. Starting and pausing playback, changing tracks, and adjusting the volume can all be done with a flick of the wrist.
In addition to this, the touch panel equipped with a motion sensor has five keys for preset functions.
The new NODE offers, as usual, the most essential connectivity options, both analog and digital. Music can be streamed to the device via a wireless or wired network, via Apple Airplay 2, via aptx hd-level Bluetooth, or via a USB-A connection. Additionally, there is a hdmi earc connection for connecting to a television. There is also a combined 3.5mm optical and line output, as well as a trigger output and an infrared sensor input.
On the output side, there is a line-level stereo RCA, a subwoofer output, as well as digital inputs via coaxial and optical connections, and a headphone jack. Additionally, NODE also supports wireless headphones by providing Bluetooth transmission for them.
Bluesound products are brought to Finland AH-Hifisystems Oy.
