Burson has unveiled the Play, which combines a preamp, a DAC and a headphone amplifier in a single package. The headphone amplifier provides 2 watts of power per channel with an impedance of 16 ohms. The power supply has a capacity of 70 watts. The DA converter has an ESS9018 chip. The USB receiver is made by Xmoks.
The player has an A-class preamp. The device supports a maximum of 32-bit / 384 kHz signal from PCM files. It also supports dsd256 and dxd. Play includes high-quality microphone input, so it can be used as a sound card.
The operation amplifier can be selected from five options. The cheapest option, the NE5532 X 3 + NE5543 X 2, costs $299. The cheapest version does not have a remote control; the others do.
