The pages of the AVPlus magazine have been filled with articles about smart speakers as various models have started to hit the market. For example, the test of compact smart speakers published in issue 9/19 involved four devices, one of which was the One, the flagship model from Harman Kardon’s Citation series. The series includes the One, in addition to three other desktop speakers, a soundbar, a subwoofer, a pair of surround speakers, and the Tower floor speaker system under review here, the real flagship of the series.
What makes the Citation Tower interesting is, first and foremost, the way the speaker integrates several modern audio features. On the surface, it’s a handsome pair of floor speakers that have evolved into a media center with many talked-about smart features. And with a price of 2,499 euros, there’s reason to expect seamless quality in all areas.
Appearance and network features
Harman Kardon’s Citation Tower is a fascinatingly modern floor-standing speaker solution that, at least at the conceptual level, challenges traditional implementations with pride. If you only use online music services and there is no need for physical connections, the Citation Tower will certainly meet the needs of even the most demanding user and also offer a whole host of clever online features. The only drawback is that it has its own limitations in terms of connectivity and, as a result, the system itself feels somewhat closed off. Otherwise, it is primarily a visually impressive and technologically advanced whole-of-its-kind!
