Asus today released a new compact smartphone, the Asus Zenfone 10. The device aims to compete with the best small phones. Pre-orders are now open and until July 30, customers can purchase the Asus Chromebook CX1 (value €499) at the store.
In terms of features, the Zenfone 10 is at the top of the small phone category. The phone features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is the most powerful in Android phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 and the Xiaomi 13. The Zenfone 10 has 8 or 16 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM depending on the model. The battery life is better than in the previous Zenfone 9, although the new phone uses the same 4300 mAh battery. The Zenfone 10 also supports wireless charging.
In terms of display, the Zenfone 10 follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with a 5.9-inch AMOLED 2400×1080 pixels Full HD+ display. The refresh rate on the display now reaches up to 144 Hertz in gaming mode, instead of 120 Hertz like its predecessor. The brightness on the display reaches a peak of 1,100 nits. The device weighs 172 grams, which makes it one of the smallest and lightest flagship models on the market.
The only real external differences between the Zenfone 10 and the Zenfone 9 come from the redesigned camera rings, which Asus says have been redesigned to offer ”clearer and more sophisticated designs”. A new color option is Aurora Green.
The Zenfone 10 still has two rear cameras, one of which is the same 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor as last year's model. However, the Zenfone 9's 12 MP ultra-wide camera has been upgraded to a 13 MP ultra-wide camera in the Zenfone 10, and the previous 12 MP front camera has now been replaced with a 32 MP front camera.
The Zenfone 10 also offers a new adaptive EIS function that allows for a wider image angle in videos, adjusting it as needed. Alongside HyperSteady image stabilization, there are also other new photography enhancements, such as AI Object Sense and HyperClarity, which ensure that details remain intact even at high magnification.
The Zenfone 10 price in Finland is 799 euros (8+128 GB), 849 euros (8+256 GB) and 949 euros (16+512 GB). Deliveries of the two larger memory versions will start on July 28 and the 7+128 GB version on August 8.
