Polk Audio has unveiled the MagniFi Mini AX soundbar, which despite its compact size offers Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound. It is also supported by Polk's own SDA 3D Audio Technology, which is said to transform stereo sound into a 360-degree spatial sound experience.
There are no physical speakers facing up or to the sides in the soundbar; instead, all five point forward. The spatial sound is therefore handled virtually. The mid-range consists of three 50mm drivers and there are also two 20mm tweeters. The bass is provided by a separate wireless subwoofer with a 180mm driver directed downwards. If you don’t want to settle for just the virtual sense of space, you can separately purchase the SR2 wireless surround speakers.
The physical connections include HDMI eARC and ARC return channels, an optical input and an AUX input implemented with a miniplug. Wireless playback is supported via Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Spotify Connect. Soundbar has an OLED display on the front and comes with a remote control. The device is Roku TV Ready.
There are audio modes for listening to music and watching movies. VoiceAdjust technology is said to sharpen dialogue, and the night mode should make watching the movie possible without the risk of being disturbed even during darkness.
The price and availability in Finland are not yet known.
