Panasonic has announced FlatpanelsHD will stop manufacturing its own television sets. New televisions will appear under that name next year, but the production will be handled by an unnamed partner for now. Product development will remain in Japan and Langen, Germany, and the manufacturer promises that Panasonic televisions will continue to be competitive and of high quality image quality.
The company has already manufactured cheaper and mid-range models under contract from the Chinese television giant TCL, but the flagship LCD and OLED models in the lineup are manufactured in the Plzeň factories founded in 1996 in the Czech Republic with one thousand employees. The factory is not being closed, but is being focused on producing, among other things, Blu-ray players on a smaller scale.
