The Japanese family company Rotel has made a new breakthrough. The S14 is a streaming network amplifier that only needs speakers to work.
The S14 outputs 150 watts in the ab class with a load of four ohms. The powerful output transistors are supported by an oversized ring transformer. The conversion of the signal from digital to analog is handled by the 32-bit ESS Sabre converter. The device is capable of reproducing 24-bit and 384 kHz PCM files. The playback is promised to be accurate and controlled.
The front panel features a color display and a headphone jack. The internet connection is available not only wirelessly but also via an Ethernet cable thanks to the latter. Streaming is supported by Spotify, Tidal, and Qobuz, among others. MQA files are also supported. The device is Roon Ready certified. Playback is also accomplished wirelessly via Bluetooth enhanced with Apple Airplay 2, Google Cast, and aptX HD.
Physical connections have also not been forgotten. Digital connections are available in the form of optical, coaxial and USB. Analog inputs take care of more traditional playback sources.
An aluminum remote control comes included. Color options include the traditional black and silver gray.
