Audio-Technica expands its range with earplugs – AT-ERP3 for everyday use and AT-ERP5 for concerts
The new earplugs are aimed at two different uses: the AT-ERP3 attenuates everyday background noise with an SNR of 26 decibels, while the AT-ERP5 aims to maintain the balance of live music with an attenuation of 21 decibels.
Audio-Technica has added two reusable earplug models to its range. AT-ERP3 is aimed at reducing everyday background noise, while AT-ERP5 is developed for concerts, festivals, rehearsal spaces and other loud sound environments.
Both models use passive noise reduction, so they are not headphones or electrically implemented noise cancellation. The transmission of sound into the ear is limited by the structure of the plugs and filters shaped according to the intended use. The models became available on June 16, 2026.
AT-ERP3 is aimed at offices and urban environments
The AT-ERP3 uses a closed earcup design that focuses attenuation on the mid and high frequencies. The model can be used, for example, in the office, café, public transport or busy urban environments when you want to reduce ambient noise to help you concentrate.
The model has a SNR attenuation value of 26 decibels and an NRR value of 19 decibels. The plugs are made of soft, antibacterial silicone, and their design aims for a discreet appearance and long-lasting comfort. The color options are black and gray.
The AT-ERP3's filtering is based on passive control of airflow and sound reaching the ear. The aim is not to completely isolate the user from the environment, but to attenuate sounds associated with normal city and office noise.
AT-ERP5 provides more even sound attenuation
The AT-ERP5 is designed for situations where you want to lower the volume without unnecessarily altering the frequency balance of the music. The design uses two layers of filtering and an open plug solution, which aims to distribute the attenuation more evenly across the entire frequency range.
The model is reported to have an SNR value of 21 decibels and an NRR value of 14 decibels. The lower total attenuation than the AT-ERP3 has been deliberately chosen, as in concert and musician use the goal is also to preserve the details and balance of the music.
The fit of the earplugs is designed to stay in place even when moving. The design uses metallic details, and the color options are black and gold. The model can be used not only for concert audiences, but also for musicians working in rehearsal rooms, for example.
Four fitting sizes are included
Both models come with silicone ear tips in sizes XS, S, M and L. The weight of one tip is stated to be approximately 1,2 grams, so the design has been kept lightweight even for several hours of use.
The package also includes a color-coordinated carrying case. The case has a lanyard hole, so you can carry the earplugs with you, for example, on your keys, in your bag or festival gear. Both models are designed to meet EN and ANSI hearing protection standards.
