Chord Electronics unveiled a new Choral Étude preamp at the Munich High End Show. The designers have been working on developing a device that complements and leverages the company’s flagship da converter/preamp model, Dave.
The study is designed to thoroughly re-engineer Chord's previous amplifiers. The new feature is error correction amplifier technology. The amplifier also features a power management function that is said to maximize sound quality. The playback is said to be low noise and low distortion.
The output power is promised to be 150 watts with a four ohm load and 300 watts in the mono mode. The amplifier operates in ab class. The speaker connections are gold-plated. The input connections are balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA. The enclosure is made of aircraft aluminum. There are three power supplies in the interior.
The amplifier will be available in stores in the fall. The price is indicated by the fact that the UK recommended price is slightly less than 4,000 pounds. The color options are black and silver-gray.
