HMD Global has unveiled a new mid-range phone, the HMD Sky, which brings nostalgic touches from old Nokia Lumia phones and the Nokia N9.
The HMD Skyline is designed for the modern user who values both style and functionality. The phone is available in two stylish colors: Twisted Black immediately upon release and Neon Pink in a few weeks.
The device features a 6.55-inch AMOLED display that offers sharp 2400×1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. The display reaches 1,000 nits brightness, making it excellent for use even in bright sunlight. The fingerprint reader is conveniently integrated into the side of the phone next to the power button.
The heart of the phone is a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 system chip that offers a smooth user experience. The memory options are 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 gigabytes of internal storage. Additionally, the phone has a microSD card slot that allows you to expand the storage up to 1 terabyte.
The HMD Skyline is equipped with three rear cameras: a 108-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, there is a 50-megapixel selfie camera that supports autofocus. Both cameras can record 4K videos. The Capture Fusion function combines the images from different cameras, bringing more details to them and improving the image quality.
The phone has a 4600 mAh battery that supports 33W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Additionally, the phone supports 5W reverse wireless charging, allowing you to charge other devices with the HMD Skyline. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 5G networks, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. It also has two nano-SIM card slots and eSIM support.
The HMD Skyline is designed to withstand use. The aluminum frame and easily removable plastic back cover make repairing the device easy. Additionally, the phone is IP54 rated, meaning it is resistant to dust and water splashes.
HMD Skyline prices in Finland are 499 euros (8+128 GB), 549 euros (8+256 GB) and 599 euros (12+256 GB). Elisa offers the lowest memory version at a discounted price of 399 euros. In addition, early buyers receive the HMD Edition One set, which includes a hoodie, a cap and a bag, with the store. This promotion is valid until August 31st.
The HMD Skyline will arrive on the market with Android 14, and in August a Digital Detox mode will be added to the device, which will help users manage the use of apps and contacts. HMD Global promises two Android version updates and three years of security updates for the device.
HMD Skyline combines stylish design, powerful performance and practical features, making it an attractive option in the mid-range phone market.
