The German Violectric has unveiled the new DHA V226 headphone/preamp. The amplifier circuit continues the footsteps of its predecessors V200, V280 and V281. It is promised to be a low-frequency amplifier.
Thanks to the 50 volt internal operating voltage and high output power, the device should be suitable for headphones with any impedance, from the smallest to the largest. Thanks to its high damping performance, it should also work with headphones that are difficult to drive.
The earbuds have a Cirrus CS 43131-DA converter, with a dynamic range of 130 decibels. It supports PCM playback with 32-bit depth and 384 kHz sampling rate, as well as DSD playback in 64–256 quality. The digital input is USB-C.
The front panel features 4-pin XLR balanced outputs, a balanced Pentacon connector, and an unbalanced ¼ inch connector. For volume control, there is an Alps RK 27 attenuator. There are two pairs of RCA inputs, and the preamp is separately selectable between -18, -6, +6, and +18 dB. There is one pair of RCA outputs, and it comes with a pre- and post-switch.
The device is available from Finland and is featured on Kruunuradio. The price is 1,399 €.
