Sony Group Corporation released the long-awaited PlayStation 5 Pro earlier this week. It is a high-end device at a high price.
The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7, 2024, simultaneously worldwide. Its price in Finland will be 799.99 euros and it will be sold by all major electronics retailers.
The Pro has a 2 TB hard drive, but no hard drive drive. A hard drive can be purchased as an optional accessory.
The Pro version has 67 % more compute units and 28 % faster central memory than the original 5 models. According to data, this enables games to be rendered up to 45 times faster % than the original PS5.
The beam tracking system has also been significantly upgraded. The system can focus the light more precisely and provide more dynamic resolutions than the previous 5 models. The improved beam tracking acceleration enables the beam to be repeated at twice and sometimes triple the speed compared to current models.
Pro also uses an AI scaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Like AMD FSR and Nvidia DLSS, PSSR uses machine-based learning technology to sharpen the image quality and improve clarity to enhance the picture and provide better performance than native rendering.
Sony has also introduced the PS5 Pro Game Boost feature, which can be used with 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games that can be played on the PS5 Pro. Many games will also receive software updates to take advantage of the Pro's enhanced power. The Pro also has Wi-Fi 7. Additionally, the Pro supports variable refresh rate and 8K output.
