Samsung has unveiled two microLED TVs at the CES 2019 event. MicroLEDs are expected to represent the next generation of television technology.
The display panel consists of small LEDs that provide liquid-crystal displays with better contrast, lower response time, and better energy efficiency. On the other hand, the technology does not suffer from the problem of high brightness in OLEDs.
Last year, Samsung introduced its 146-inch The Wall TV using microLED technology. Now, there are two extremes – a more conventional size and a giant screen. The more room-friendly 75-inch version achieves 4k resolution and has a 16:9 aspect ratio. There are as many as 25 million pixels on the display.
In the model in question, the edges are minimal. There is no information about the model name, price, or release date. Another impressive feat is the 219-inch The Wall TV. Its aspect ratio is also 16:9.
One interesting aspect of Samsung’s microLED displays is that they are modular. For example, the 75-inch version consists of 64 modules. The panels can also be used to build displays with designs that are different from the standard ones.
Samsung envisions a future where homes adorned with display panels are used for much more than just watching TV shows or movies.
