Not all modern digital gadgets, such as amplifiers, active speakers or soundbars, have analog inputs at all – or the few that do are already in use. However, if there are digital inputs available, an AD converter can be used to connect them to traditional playback sources.
The Marmitek Connect AD12 E has 2 x RCA inputs for a CD player or cassette player, for example, as well as optical and coaxial outputs. Both outputs can be used simultaneously. When connecting a vinyl player, you must have either a separate or built-in RIAA converter in the turntable.
The AD converter reaches 24-bit audio at a sampling rate of 48 kilohertz. The signal-to-noise ratio is stated to be ≥ 80 decibels and the channel separation is 90 decibels. The device is not small in size, as the longest side is 80 millimeters, and the weight is 45 grams.
The price of the converter is 49,9 euros.
