In California, Magico, which resides there, has unveiled a revamped version of its S3 floor speaker. The Magico S3 2023 model has been equipped with technology from the company's flagship M9 speakers, which cost over one million dollars.
The enclosure uses four aluminum panels, which are the thinnest at 1 inch and the thickest at about 5 inches. The panels are customized individually to achieve the best possible internal damping. The manufacturer promises that the enclosure will be 30 percent quieter than its predecessor. The speakers weigh 100 pounds each, so anyone considering purchasing should ask a friend to carry them.
The fruits of the M9 model design have been used in, among other things, a 28-millimeter diamond-coated beryllium disk speaker, for which an acoustically improved and more robust chamber housing has also been developed. The 127-millimeter midrange speaker has a sandwich construction with a graphene and carbon fiber between aluminum honeycomb. The 230-millimeter bass driver's diaphragm is made from the latest version of the manufacturer's graphene nanotechnology, and also made of aluminum. Since graphene is 50 times stiffer than steel but still lightweight, the damping should be adequate. The element has a five-inch voice coil.
The Magico S3 2023, which will arrive on the market next year, will be available in two finishing options: textured powder-coated M-Cast and high-gloss M-Coat.
