Finnish speaker giant Genelec has introduced the new 7050C subwoofer, which is a revised model of the 7050B subwoofer. The manufacturer promises that it offers wider, distortion-free and higher sound pressure levels than its predecessor. The subwoofer also features a professional-level bass management system.
The speaker element is eight inches in size and magnetically shielded. The improved LSE spiral enclosure is promised to provide a cleaner signal even at its extreme limits. The sound pressure capacity has increased by three decibels. The subwoofer now has a universal switched mode power supply. There are five input and output channels, and they have 85 Hz low- and high-pass filters. There are also 120 LFE signal inputs. The speaker's frequency response is said to reach a clean 24 Hz.
Genelec says the 7050C is a great companion for any nearfield monitor, but especially for the manufacturer's own models 8010, 8020, 8030 and M030. The speaker is calibrated using dip switches on the rear panel. Settings include phase adjustment, low-frequency frequency response adjustments, a ten-decibel boost of the LFE signal and a sensitivity adjustment for power saving mode.
