Hifipig has tested REL's T9i subwoofer. It is the big brother of the T-Zero that we tested this year and the largest model in the T-series. The price of the subwoofer in Finland is 1,250 euros.
The amplifier is class A/B and provides 300 watts of continuous power. The sound is provided by a 10-inch long-throw subwoofer, assisted by a passive subwoofer of the same size. The subwoofer is said to reach its lowest frequency of 28 Hertz with a 6-dB reduction.
The device has a speaker-like input that is implemented with speakon connectors. For that purpose, a cable is also included with the subwoofer. Additionally, there is a rca connection and lfe-rca specifically for home theater use. The controls include a level control, a phase selector between 0 and 180 degrees, and a phase frequency adjuster.
The color options are glossy black and glossy white. The overall finish is considered excellent, including the controls and the legs. The price-quality ratio is also praised as excellent. According to Hifipigi, the sound quality of the subwoofer exceeds expectations.
Hifipig praises the T9i for its good integration, which is helped by at least a good selection of adjustment options that allow the subwoofer to provide not only lower-frequency range but also assistance with mid-range and treble reproduction. In addition, the subwoofer’s quick response and musicality are praised. According to the review, the main speakers’ reproduction gained more liveliness and organicness with the REL T9i. Both male and female vocals also became more realistic. Transient responses are smooth and timed accurately.
