The Bittium Tough Mobile phone from Bittium and the associated Bittium Secure Suite background system have been awarded the highest level of Confidential Security classification. This means that the phone can process and create material whose security level is classified as Confidential. It can also be transferred between the phone and the background system.
The classification has been granted by the Communications Authority’s Cybersecurity Center. It is the only Mobile Security Certificate granted for a mobile solution in the world. Bittium’s phone operating system, user authentication, and data transmission have been enhanced in accordance with the Katakri 2015 requirements and considering the security classification it has now received. Finnish authorities use the Katakri 2015 requirements when assessing how well the target organization is able to protect confidential data.
Now, various government organizations can use the Bittium phone and its backend system more widely and create new, more agile communication methods. The phones have been developed and manufactured entirely in Finland, allowing for the integration of security features for both the hardware and the source code sides.
