CANVAS L has been announced as a new product that aims to take the soundbar well beyond conventional TV sound reproduction. CANVAS HiFi's promotional material describes the model as the world's first truly audiophile soundbar, and its starting point is to combine high sound quality, interior-friendly design and ease of use in the same device.
The new product will be presented at the world premiere At High End Vienna 2026, which will take place from June 4th to 7th. The timing coincides with the opening day of the event, so CANVAS L will now be presented to the public for the first time.
The new model continues the line of the manufacturer's previous CANVAS model. The model in question was awarded With the EISA Premium Soundbar 2024–2025 award, so CANVAS L sets out to continue the concept that has already received attention with an even more ambitious implementation.
Unlike a traditional soundbar, the CANVAS L is not only designed to enhance the sound of your TV. It is also built as a standalone hi-fi music system that can be used with or without a TV. Placement options include wall mounting, countertop placement, and floor standing.
Sound background with Scan-Speak, SB Acoustics and BACCH 3D+ processing
The CANVAS L's technical implementation is based on custom-made speaker drivers, an efficient amplifier solution and digital signal processing. The bass reproduction is handled by eight-inch Scan-Speak drivers developed for CANVAS and passive radiators based on their structure. The midrange is provided by a four-inch Scan-Speak driver and the high frequencies by a 29-millimeter SB Acoustics ring radiator.
The sound tuning has been done with the expertise of Benno Baun Meldgaard. Meldgaard is known for his work on high-end speakers, and the sonic goal of the CANVAS L is set to be a natural, effortless and musical presentation. The tuning has been done with the ordinary living room in mind, not just for the measurement room.

The amplifier uses an AXIGN Class D solution. The total peak power of the system is stated to be 1,500 watts, of which 2 × 300 watts are reserved for the bass elements, 2 × 200 watts for the midrange and 2 × 50 watts for the tweeters. The frequency response is stated to be 25 hertz – 40 kilohertz.
One of the key standouts of the device is BACCH 3D+ processing. The technology, reportedly licensed from Princeton University, is based on channel crosstalk control, which aims to create a stereo image that is wider than its physical dimensions from a single enclosure. The goal is a wider, deeper and more vertically spacious sound field for music, movies and games.

Hi-Fi system that blends into your television

CANVAS L is designed specifically for large TVs. Standard support for 65, 75, 77, 83 and 85 inch TVs is available, with custom sizes up to 98-115 inch screens. The device comes with a front panel, TV and hybrid mounts.

Compatibility is based on the TV and soundbar forming a single unit. CANVAS L can be installed below the TV so that the whole looks like a single piece of furniture. HDMI ARC/eARC is included for TV audio, and the volume can be controlled with the TV remote control.
Connections include HDMI ARC/eARC, digital coaxial input, Toslink, stereo RCA input and LAN. On the wireless side, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect, DLNA and Roon Ready are supported. There is also Control4 support for home automation.
Room correction is implemented using the CANVAS app. The measurement can be done with the Zen microphone or the iPhone microphone, and the system's frequency response is adjusted according to the listening room. This is aimed specifically at controlling bass reproduction and achieving a more balanced overall sound in typical living rooms.

Textile, wood and art version finishes

The design continues the Scandinavian design line. The CANVAS L look is based on clear surfaces, interchangeable front panels and finishes that match the interior. There are a total of 13 surface options, including black and light gray textile surfaces, eight Kvadrat fabric shades and wooden slatted panels in light oak, mahogany and walnut.
In addition, the model is coming in a Carsten Beck Edition, created in collaboration with Danish artist Carsten Beck. In this special version, the CANVAS L functions as both a sound system and an interior art element.
Price and availability
The CANVAS L is priced at €5, including the front panel, hybrid mount and universal TV mount. Availability is expected to begin in Q999 2026 through authorized CANVAS HiFi retailers.
The CANVAS L is clearly positioned at the top end of the soundbar market in terms of price. However, its actual competitive position does not seem to be with regular soundbars, but rather the device seeks a place somewhere between a hi-fi system, home theater sound, and a TV solution that can be integrated into the interior.
